The University of Applied Arts Vienna is proud to be part of this years Lange Nacht der Forschung 2024 (Long Night of Research) together with Austrian Academy of Sciences, Johannes Kepler Universität Linz, Ludwig Boltzmann Institut für Kriegsfolgenforschung, Wissenschaftsfonds FWF Bundesimmobiliengesellschaft.

The former Postsparkasse building at Georg-Coch-Platz 2, 1010 Vienna has become a new location for research, science and art in Vienna's city center. For the first time, all institutions located in the Otto Wagner Postsparkasse are presenting a joint program in the ‘Kassenhalle‘, where AIL and Café Exchange are located, and in individual areas of the building.

The University of Applied Arts Vienna presents the olfactory performance Nature After Nature: DRAWING TREES WITH SCENT by MUELLER-DIVJAK (Jeanette Müller & Paul Divjak) with Lucie Strecker and music by b.fleischmann, our two exhibitions at AIL – Reverse Imagining Vienna and Energy at the Treshold of the Visible World – and the lecture performance Petromusicality on the subject of plastic and beyond by Paula Bracker, Karl Salzmann and Samo Zeichen.

5 pm: Welcome speeches with Heinz Faßmann (ÖAW), Christof Gattringer (FWF), Petra Schaper Rinkel (Angewandte), Stefan Koch (JKU) und Barbara Stelzl-Marx (BIK)

5.50 pm: Live Podcast with Fabiola Gianotti: Physics from the smallest to the largest: What are the future questions at CERN? 

6.30 pm: The Big Science Pub Quiz - the most curious win!

7.20 pm: Secret services in Cold War Austria 

7.40 pm: Nature After Nature: Drawing Trees With Scent - an olfactory performance

8.15 pm: DUMMHEIT. A Journey to Infinity - A performance by the JKU Circus of Knowledge 

8.50 pm: What do you know about sandworms, the philosophy of thermodynamics and the X-shape of chromosomes?

9.30 pm: Dirk Stermann: Be a Hammer!

10 pm: Petromusicality. A lecture performance on the topic of plastic and beyond
