Artist Talk with Tracy Thompson (Artist, Ghana) and Ibrahim Mahama (Co-Curator and Artist, Ghana) in the framework of the AIL-Exhibition “Ecologies and Politics of the Living“, Moderation: Baerbel MuellerTracy Thompson and Ibrahim Mahama will introduce their visions of coexistence, nature and the environment and offer insights into their works presented in the show. They will also provide glimpses of the emerging art scene in Ghana and their active role in it.

Tracy Thompson, artist, and Ibrahim Mahama, artist and co-curator of the exhibition Ecologies and Politics of the Living, will introduce their visions of coexistence, nature and the environment and offer insights into their works presented in the show. They will also provide glimpses of the emerging art scene in Ghana and their active role in it.
Tracy Naa Koshie Thompson is a Ghanaian artist whose current interest lies in exploring mutations of and with food in art and how the politics of food consumption could be redefined beyond human-centeredness. Her work has featured at blaxTARLINES KUMASI in Accra, Ghana and the Stellenbosch Triennial (2020) in South Africa.
Ibrahim Mahama is an artist, head of Savannah Centre for Contemporary Art Tamale, Ghana and co-curator of Ecologies and Politics of the Living. His artistic practice is led by his interest in the history of materials and architecture,as well as by alternative perspectives of looking into the materials and labor conditions of society. His work has been shown at the Venice Biennale, the Norval Foundation in Cape Town, KNUST Museum in Kumasi/Ghana, documenta 14 and 22nd Biennale of Sydney amongst others.
The talk is moderated by Baerbel Mueller, Architect, Researcher and Head of [applied] Foreign Affairs Lab / University of Applied Arts Vienna.


Ecologies and Politics of the Living is an exhibition of the University of Applied Arts Vienna and Angewandte Innovation Lab. It is part of the Vienna Biennale for Change 2021.
