Future on Trial

Climate justice is not a singular field but a complex ecology of perspectives, operating across multiple temporalities, geographies, and forms of knowledge. It reveals how environmental destruction is entangled with colonial histories, ongoing neo-imperial relations, and deep time, where responsibility extends across generations and ecological processes exceed human timescales. 

The exhibition unfolds between two conceptions of justice. The first is discussed in courtrooms, where scientific and legal evidence, data, and visual investigation can expose environmental crimes, reveal hidden infrastructures, corporate misconduct, and state violence. The second, approaches justice as an unfinished, collective process that extends beyond the tribunal, drawing on Indigenous knowledge, queer ecology, multispecies perspectives, and activism. These works ask how societies might practice care rather than merely legislate it. 

Drawing on a dialogue between artists and experts in the field of climate litigation, the exhibition explores the space between evidence and uncertainty, accusation and repair, institutional accountability and collective imagination.
