When Acceleration Falters

with Tati au Miel, Babak Ahteshamipour, Klimentina Milenova & Paul Böhm

In cooperation with CIVA – Contemporary Immersive Virtual Art, soundframe and MUTEK Montréal. Part of the upco

This evening marks the first collaborative event in the public program accompanying the annual exhibition CIVA – Contemporary Immersive Virtual Art at Belvedere 21 (12 Nov 2026 – 7 Mar 2027). This year’s edition explores the theme of post-acceleration.

Post-acceleration describes a condition in which acceleration has become the default setting, a fundamental prerequisite of contemporary existence.

The rhythm of the present has grown increasingly intensified: (technological) acceleration is no longer experienced as a succession of events, but as a turbulent, repetitive state that shapes perception, attention, and engagement.

Tati au Miel (live)

‘Tati au Miel’ is the alias of Montréal-born and raised artist of Haitian descent, Tania Daniel. Their practice draws from improvisation and collaboration as crucial entry points into their worlds of sound, performance, and installation. Through each manifestation of their work, they aspire to shape intimate experiences engaging with quantum thinking in relation to somatic, frequency, and metaphysical perspectives. In dialogue with the lineages of musique concrète, experimentation, and Haitian spiralism, their work unfolds as an ever-evolving proposition of perception and encounter.

About Tati au Miel: Recent projects include Tati au Miel (deluxe edition) (2025) and Carousel EP (2023), released under the labels PTP (NewYork) and Halcyon Veil (Texas). They composed the score for Bhenji Ra’s film Biraddali, Dancing on the Horizon, a co-commission by Auto Italia (London) and Western Front (Vancouver). They have performed at Chisenhale Gallery (London), transmediale (Berlin), MoMA Ps1 (New York) , Le Botanique (Brussels), Abandon Normal Devices (Manchester), Mutek (Montréal, Mexico City), kurimanzutto (Mexico City), among others. They are currently pursuing graduate studies in Music/Sound as part of the Bard MFA program.

Babak Ahteshamipour (Live)

Violence Expanded

Violence Expanded is an ever growing audiovisual performance by Babak Ahteshamipour which combines his compositions from his album Violent Violins Exposed—released on Jollies (Brooklyn, NYC) on April 3rd of 2024—with latter compositions created for other visual projects after Violent Violins Exposed that also feature ambient soundscapes clashing with abrasive and chaotic sequences and rhythms.

Babak Ahteshamipour is an interdisciplinary artist/designer, musician, and writer based between Vienna (AT) and Athens (GR). His works expand across many disciplines such as game engines, 3D, video, graphic design, music, and writing that collide into unison exploring ludic subjectivity, machinic affect, chronopolitics, anti-materialism, and post-anthropological coexistence, delivered through the lens of gaming and internet culture.   His work has been presented across festivals, venues & spaces such as Centre Pompidou (FR), Onassis ONX (GR), and Next Level Festival (DE), and has been featured on magazines and platforms such as Bandcamp daily, COEVAL magazine and CTM festival’s magazine (DE). He has performed and shared the stage with artists such as Zoviet France, HELM and MSHR, and has produced video clips for musicians such as Fire-Toolz and Digifae. He has released music on the independent labels Jollies (US) and Industrial Coast (UK).

Klimentina Milenova & Paul Böhm (Live)

In silent storm, we dwell

If solar storms can disrupt satellites and power grids, could they also affect the collective human psyche? Between the signals of an abandoned satellite close to death and earth's sublayer vibrations, we find ourselves navigating through storms with sensors, antennas, and lasers, converging in an AV composition of electromagnetic and celestial disruption. A live performance that traces the boundaries between human perception and excitation through the lens of electromagnetic and celestial disruption.

The work sonifies solar storms layered with recordings of electromagnetic vibrations. It is a journey of drifting through resolutions in invisible, yet audible satellite signals, attempting to measure the Earth's skin and cosmic weather. The composition explores the legacy of Alexander Chizhevsky, who posited a direct correlation between solar storm activity and cycles of war and mass excitation. As signals passed through time, we interpret those fragments and fuse our own materials onto them. Weaving folklore and murmurs of magnetic fields that pull the human body. So that myth and signal hum on the same frequency.

Klimentina Milenova’s primary focus is interaction. As a new media artist, curator, and educator, her work ranges from research-driven game novels to audiovisual compositions and workshops. Her artistic practice explores the contradictory relationships between humans and technologies. Throughout her narratives, she observes alternative approaches to immersive experiences while questioning the already known. Her background in media art and pedagogy inspires her to find ways to communicate digital concepts in a playful manner. Her work carries the ability to open conversations. She was part of the core team of major European media art festivals. Such as CIVA Festival Vienna 2022-2023, Digitale Welten 2022 Frankfurt, and Ars Electronica Linz 2017-2019.

Paul Böhm studied ‘Arts and Digital Media’ and ‘Arts and Architecture’ at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna. His Graduation in Architecture was awarded with an honorable mention by the Academy of Fine Arts. His artistic work concentrates on the relation of human sensation and its technologically expanded yet deeply disturbed relation to the environment. His sonic work involves experimental sensing, including satellites and remote sensing technologies. He collaborated with several artists to create soundtracks, performances, or concerts. These were shown at Ars Electronica Museum Deep Space, Steirischer Herbst, DNT Weimar, Independent Space Index, AIL, and recently at Zunder Festival.
